I have a hard time teasing apart artistic photography
and portrait photography. I want my portraits to look like art.
I’m more interested in capturing the essence of my subjects than a
posed mug shot.

Farmer's market

This is my first post on this blog that does not revolve around portraits.  It's a little difficult to change topics, but once I got going it was OK.  I had my friend, Rigel, join me and we had fun.

Mormon Prom 2010

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has a local "Mormon Prom".  This prom is a bit different from the ones held in the High School in that it's (1) free, (2) requires modest dress, and (3) has an age bracket of 16 to 18 allowed.  I had the oportunity to shoot 5 couples (plus 1) for it the Saturday!
This is Tawny and Eric, I call it "Mirror Image"

Ian and Kelsy getting cozy.
Harrison and Chantelle as bright as sunshine.
Danielle and James...very classy!  Someone heard James say that thanks to Danielle all his pictures look good...what a guy;-)
Aram and Brittney smiling through the chilly weather (brrrr!)

Here's the whole group, we got Terrance in this one.
I was lucky to get such a great group to shoot.  I had a helper on this shoot, hopefully she got some good pics as well.

Aurora & Miriam

I'm trying to get a little group (Shutter Bug Club) together to shoot one Saturday a month.  It ends up mother nature wasn't on board with the idea..for 2 weeks in a row!  But I have had a couple of locations I was dying to try out anyway so Aurora enlisted her adorable friend, Miriam, and we went out and had some fun!

Aurora spotted a tiny little turtle!

Sammi & Patrick

Do you remember Ian? Well I got to do his little sister's prom picttures this afternoon.  She and her date, Patrick, are so cute together!
This is one of the couples they went with.  Sammi's mom had these over-sized playing cards and I had to do a little 'Vegas in the backyard' shoot!
Sammi is a very beautiful young woman and she takes such good pictures, it's really hard to not to post all of them!

Williams family

This group of children were fun to shoot.  They are so friendly and they willingly sat for quite a few photos.  We did devide the shoot up though and got the boys' portraits done a couple weeks later.

One thing I've learned is that kids need something to play with if I want to get their real joyful personality shining through.

Mom's photos

I was able to take my mom's pictures on our visit to TN this past week. She's a country girl at heart and I think this was captured very well!
We were able to have fun with her horse, Grayzer...
and her dog, Koda.
