I have a hard time teasing apart artistic photography
and portrait photography. I want my portraits to look like art.
I’m more interested in capturing the essence of my subjects than a
posed mug shot.

Mel
Right before we left Colorado I had the oportunity to shoot the wedding for Melanie and Mike. They are such a beautiful couple! This was 8 years ago (or there about). I was looking through my old photos preparing for my daughter's graduation open house and came upon these. I actually shot the wedding in 35mm film, but we had just bought a digital camera and I snagged some shots with it:

Harrison
I had the location of the little local airposrt in mind for dusk photos, but it looked better in my head.
I did manage to squeez out a couple of nice pictures there.
Fortunatly Bill and I got lost the other day and while we were driving around I saw some other locals that were just begging me to come and bring camera! There's a put put golf course just out of town that is closed down that I got these at:
These two locations are places I've wanted to try out for a long time, and Mr. Sun was still giving me enough light, and Mr. Son was still willing to pose:-)
I like these triplicate pieces, I think I have mastered the taking of the pictures, but the photoshoping them together is another matter, especially when I'm dealing with shadows. I'm very blessed to have a handy husband to help me out!

Farmer's market
This is my first post on this blog that does not revolve around portraits. It's a little difficult to change topics, but once I got going it was OK. I had my friend, Rigel, join me and we had fun.

Mormon Prom 2010
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has a local "Mormon Prom". This prom is a bit different from the ones held in the High School in that it's (1) free, (2) requires modest dress, and (3) has an age bracket of 16 to 18 allowed. I had the oportunity to shoot 5 couples (plus 1) for it the Saturday!
This is Tawny and Eric, I call it "Mirror Image"
Ian and Kelsy getting cozy.
Danielle and James...very classy! Someone heard James say that thanks to Danielle all his pictures look good...what a guy;-)
I was lucky to get such a great group to shoot. I had a helper on this shoot, hopefully she got some good pics as well.
